Australian Cobberdogs come in 3 sizes according to the breed standard: miniature, medium and standard. At this stage we are focusing on medium size Cobberdogs. However the size of Cobberdogs is still variable amongst all breeders, due to the fact that this is a breed in development.
The measurement is from ground to wither, which is the top of the shoulder.
Height: 42cms to 51cms to top
of shoulder
Weight: 14-22kg
The Australian Cobberdog coat is unique: beautiful to the eye, soft to the touch and low-allergenic / low-shedding.
There are 3 different fleece types: curly, wavy and straight. There is also variation in the look, feel and degree of shedding / hypoallergenic quality within each category. Coats repel dirt and do not tend to have a "doggy smell".
Cobberdogs require regular brushing and occasional clipping, although your floors are likely to require less-frequent cleaning compared to if you had a regular dog with a shedding coat!
Australian Cobberdogs come in a lovely array of colours. These colours often change over time and may be affected by sunlight, environment and a dog's natural aging process. Colours are often described differently between breeders.
At this stage we have bred dogs with variations of white / blonde / rose gold, cafe and raven (black). Most of our dogs have a rose pigment (called liver in other breeds), except for Emma, whose pigment is black. Pigment affects the colour of the nose and the skin lining around the eyes, rims of the lips and paw pads.
Our focus has been temperament and health, rather than colours.
From the Australian Cobberdog breed standard:
Even tempered, trusting, happy, loyal, confident and sociable, eager to please, observant, and adapts well to new situations and environments. Easily trained but can appear to be stubborn when confused. Full of vitality, energy and playfulness with clown like behaviour when free but subdued and gentle when handled. Has the ability to make the humans in its life feel that it has a unique intuition, a mutual connection and that it can display an appropriate response to their emotional and physical needs. The Australian Cobberdog is easy to live with, an ideal family member and an excellent emotional support companion for those with special needs.
